How do the plans work?
Our plans are feature-based with pay-as-you-go usage. Each plan includes free credits to get started, then you pay only for what you use. Free gives you full read-write access to all your datasources and all AI models, with room for a couple of seats, workspaces, and projects. Team raises those limits substantially and adds MCP tool integrations, and Business removes seat limits entirely and adds custom tools and priority support. For large organizations, Enterprise offers custom limits and dedicated support.
What are the limits on seats, workspaces, and projects?
A seat is one user account on your team. Every seat also gets a personal workspace that's completely private and doesn't count against your plan's workspace limit. Workspaces are owned by your team and contain projects — this is where the actual work happens, and how you group projects is up to you (many teams use one per client, but any organization works). Each project has its own data sources, and every collaboration (conversation with BB) happens inside a project. Higher plans raise your seat, workspace, and project limits substantially.
What are the free credits?
Every plan includes free credits when you sign up: Free ($5), Team ($10), and Business ($20). Team and Business plans also include additional credits when you upgrade ($5 and $10 respectively). These credits cover your initial usage and help you explore BB's capabilities.
How does usage pricing work?
After your free credits, you pay transparent, provider-based costs. Usage varies by task complexity and your choice of AI model. You can monitor usage in the app and set spending limits to control costs. Credits are purchased in $5 minimum increments and expire after 12 months.
What is storage used for?
Storage covers your collaboration history — the full audit trail of conversations between you, your team, and BB — plus the files involved in that work. Every file added to a collaboration is saved as a versioned file, which keeps your message history consistent and enables prompt caching, lowering your token costs. Files you upload directly also count toward storage.
Which AI models can I use?
BB has first-class, direct support for every major frontier model — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and DeepSeek — plus access to many more through aggregators like Groq, OpenRouter, and Ollama. Prefer to run models yourself? Ollama lets you bring your own local models, too. You can pay for usage with BB credits or your own API key, whichever fits your workflow.
Can BB actually update my files, or just read them?
Yes — every plan, including Free, gives BB full read-write access to your files and connected services (Notion, Google Docs, GitHub, and more), so BB can read context and actually edit documents, update records, manage issues, and more from day one. BB connects through data sources — live, two-way connections to a folder on your computer, a cloud service, or a third-party tool via MCP — not a one-time upload of stale data. Higher tiers add more seats, higher usage limits, and your own tool connections.
Can I change my plan later?
Yes! Plan upgrades are immediate with prorated billing. Plan downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing month, so you keep your current plan benefits until then. All plan changes can be made through the app Settings at any time.
What is local-only mode?
Local-only mode lets you use Beyond Better without a BB account by supplying your own AI key. With Ollama integration, you can even run completely offline. This mode includes filesystem access and your own tool connections, but not connected cloud services. Learn more about local-only mode.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards via Stripe. Enterprise customers can arrange for invoice payments. All prices are in US dollars. No credit card is required for signup — you can explore BB with free credits first.
